The Argentina Files operates this website and is responsible for its editorial content and website practices. Questions about these Terms, legal notices, privacy requests and rights requests may be sent to legal@theargentinafiles.com.

The Argentina Files is an investigative media and research platform. It publishes a documentary record — a timeline, case files, source library, claim register and relationship and financial-flow maps — assembled from primary documents, official records, court and regulatory filings, and established reporting. Its coverage includes publicly available information, institutional decisions, governance issues, financial reporting, sports controversies, and related matters involving public figures and organizations. It is a work of journalism and research, not a legal proceeding, and it makes no findings of guilt or liability.

The central feature of this site is that it does not present everything it publishes as equally established. Every claim, event and relationship in the record carries an explicit classification, and those classifications are part of the content rather than decoration. The vocabulary is fixed and consists of the following classifications:

• Confirmed fact
• Credible reported allegation
• Disputed interpretation
• Circumstantial connection
• Analytical inference
• Unsupported or false
• Not independently verified

These classifications are applied alongside the provenance of each source. The site does not publish numeric confidence, bias or corruption scores; the classification together with the source record is the whole of what the site asserts about how well supported a statement is. A separate set of secondary statuses — such as whether a record is developing, whether it rests on a single reported source, or whether a document could not be retrieved — is shown where it applies. Where the evidence does not support a claim, the site says that it is not supported by the evidence in the record; that is a statement about the record, not a finding that the claim is false.

Where sources genuinely conflict, the site presents the conflict rather than resolving it silently. Readers should take the classification attached to a statement as part of the statement itself, and should not treat material drawn from this site as established fact without reference to it. The methodology describes how this system is applied.

The site aims for accuracy and publishes the basis for what it states, but it does not warrant that all material is complete, current or free from error. Investigative records are built from sources that are themselves incomplete, and some questions in this record are openly unresolved and are labelled as such.

The record is revised as material changes. Records describing matters that are still developing carry the date on which their statements were current. Where a material correction is made, it is recorded in an append-only, publicly visible corrections history rather than by silently editing the original text. Corrections are treated as part of the record, not as an embarrassment to be hidden. The site may also update or remove content — including where a source is retracted, where a legal or factual basis no longer supports a statement, or where continued publication is no longer warranted.

If you believe something on this site is inaccurate, please write to editor@theargentinafiles.com with the specific statement at issue and, where possible, the source that contradicts it. Correction requests supported by documentary evidence are the most useful and are taken seriously.

Everyone named in this record is presumed innocent of any wrongdoing that has not been established by a court or a competent authority. Appearing in this record does not imply that a person or organisation has done anything wrong. People appear here because they are documented participants in events of public interest, and many of them appear in contexts that carry no allegation at all.

The site keeps distinctions that are frequently collapsed elsewhere. A reported inquiry is not a charge. An investigation is not a conviction. A documented proximity or overlap between people or organisations is not evidence of collusion. A commercial incentive is not a documented motive. Where the site records that two matters are separate, they are kept separate throughout, and the site does not merge distinct legal or factual matters into a single narrative because they involve the same people.

Legal and procedural terms from other jurisdictions are preserved in their original language where translating them would assert something the original does not, with an explanation of what the term means in its own system. Allegations are attributed to whoever made them. Counterarguments are published alongside the material they contest, including where they are inconvenient to the site's own framing.

A person or organisation described in this record who believes they have been misrepresented may write to editor@theargentinafiles.com. A response setting out a factual dispute will be considered on its merits and, where warranted, published or reflected in the record.

By using this site, you agree not to:

• use the site for any unlawful purpose, or in a way that infringes the rights of others;
• attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, its hosting infrastructure or any connected system;
• interfere with or disrupt the site, including through automated requests at a volume that degrades service for others, or through unauthorized scraping of its content;
• misrepresent the content of this record — in particular, by presenting a classified claim as though it were an established fact, or by removing the classification, attribution, source or qualification attached to material taken from this site;
• submit false or abusive submissions or correspondence, including correction requests or tips made in bad faith;
• use material from this site to harass, threaten, intimidate or endanger any person named in the record.

The site may restrict access where use of it causes harm to others or to the operation of the service.

This site does not currently accept user submissions. There is no comment system, no user account, no upload facility and no submission form, and unsolicited material sent by other means is handled as ordinary correspondence rather than as a submission under these Terms.

If a submission facility — such as a tip line, a document-submission route or a correction-submission form — is added in future, the following will apply to it. You would remain responsible for anything you submit and would need the right to send it. You would grant permission to review, store and, where relevant to the record, publish or describe the material. Nothing you submit would be treated as confidential unless the facility expressly offers confidentiality, and no submission would create an obligation to publish, to investigate, or to respond. Any such facility would be governed by the version of these Terms in force at the time it launches.

The original material on this site — its editorial writing, research synthesis, classifications, structure, design and code — belongs to the operator of The Argentina Files or is used with permission. You may read, quote and link to it. Quotation should be proportionate, should carry attribution to The Argentina Files, and should preserve the classification and qualification attached to the material quoted.

Wholesale reproduction of the record, or of substantial parts of it, is not permitted without written permission. Nothing in these Terms grants a licence to republish the site or to present its research as your own work.

Quoted documents, excerpts, images and other third-party material remain the property of their respective owners and are used for reporting, criticism, comment and research, with their source and rights position recorded. Rights holders who believe material of theirs has been used improperly may write to legal@theargentinafiles.com.

This site cites and links to external sources — court and regulatory records, governing body publications, corporate registries, news reporting and specialist analysis. Those sources are the property and responsibility of the organisations that publish them, and citing a source is not an endorsement of that source, its publisher, or anything else it has published.

External material may change, move or disappear, and its availability is outside the control of this site. Where a document could not be retrieved, or was retrieved only in part, the record says so rather than presenting it as verified. Following an external link takes you to a site governed by its own terms and privacy policy, not by these.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, United States, to the extent permitted by applicable law. Nothing in these Terms limits any non-waivable rights or remedies you may have under the law that applies where you live.
