Whether the Supporters’ Shield was publicly fixed as the criterion before Inter Miami won it is not proven, and the retrievable record points the other way: no retrieved FIFA primary document dated before 2 October 2024 states the berth would go to the Shield winner. That FIFA reserved discretion, by contrast, is a confirmed fact. The MLS Cup champion had no published entitlement, so any claim that it was robbed of a guaranteed berth is unsafe wording.
